Pins mark selected places; they are not a navigation track. Build your riding route using the official road and ferry information. Vielha and Cadaqués are representative markers for the region-level endpoints. Santa Pau is an optional detour; other Dalí Triangle visits need their own planning.

  1. S

    Start

    Val d'Aran — Vielha marker

Vielha provides the practical town marker for the Val d’Aran starting area. Begin with time in the mountain valley before the official multi-road itinerary heads towards the Romanesque churches of Vall de Boí.

  2. 1

    Village / small town

    Boí

Boí places a small village within the valley’s Romanesque church landscape and national-park gateway area. Treat church and walking visits as off-bike activities, adding time beyond the connecting motorcycle roads.

  3. 2

    Village / small town

    Sort

Sort’s old streets and castle setting overlook slate-roofed houses beside the Noguera Pallaresa. Pause to explore this small regional centre before continuing along the Pyrenean corridor towards La Seu d’Urgell.

  4. 3

    Village / small town

    Ripoll

Ripoll gives the middle road stages a strong cultural stop at the monastery of Santa Maria. Its Romanesque portal and cloister merit time off the motorcycle before the journey continues towards Garrotxa.

  5. 4

    Village / small town

    Santa Pau — Garrotxa detour

Optional Garrotxa village detour: Santa Pau brings medieval architecture into the volcanic-landscape stage. Choose it as a deliberate off-bike visit rather than assuming the shortest connecting road passes through its centre.

  6. 5

    Village / small town

    Besalú

Besalú offers a compact medieval settlement and a celebrated bridge before the route reaches the coast. Park and walk the historic streets, keeping time for the village rather than only its approach view.

  7. F

    Finish

Costa Brava / Dalí Triangle — Cadaqués marker

Cadaqués provides a coastal marker for the wider Costa Brava and Dalí Triangle finish. The official itinerary also includes Figueres and Púbol; visiting all three requires additional planning beyond this single endpoint.

Why this road.

This documented road itinerary gives the Spanish Pyrenees a satisfying wider context. It begins among mountain valleys, follows a cultural thread through Romanesque churches and monasteries, then moves into Garrotxa's volcanic country before reaching the Mediterranean. The N260 forms an important part of the middle journey rather than supplying an invented end-to-end total. For a rider interested in rural places, the changing settings offer many reasons to stop: architecture, village life, a walk, a meal and a different horizon.

The rhythm of the ride.

Plan this as a mixed road tour through mountain and regional landscapes. The official itinerary uses the N230 towards Vall de Boí and the N260 through the Pyrenean middle stages, before continuing through Garrotxa and on towards the coast. It is not a single-road challenge or a measurement of the entire N260. Keep individual stages short enough for cultural visits, and separate any national-park walking day from motorcycle mileage. Verify the chosen connecting roads and local access before turning a general itinerary into navigation.

Make time for the place.

Romanesque churches in Vall de Boí and the cathedral and monastery stops at La Seu d'Urgell and Ripoll connect the ride with local heritage work. The valleys also host outdoor recreation, while Garrotxa's villages add another rural setting. Around Boí, summer fire festivals preserve a community tradition. Check the actual village programme rather than treating a festival or church visit as an always-available roadside performance.

Season & access.

Editorial preference: late spring to early autumn, with a suitable mountain forecast. The official itinerary highlights spring and summer for the Baricauba woodland; higher-country visits need their own conditions check.

  • 475 km belongs to the multi-road tourism itinerary
  • N260 is only part of this corridor
  • Allow off-bike time for national-park visits
  • The Dalí Triangle has several possible final stops
